Have you ever heard of Ayurvedic digestive types? We hadn’t either!
Ayurveda is an alternative medicine system derived from India that emphasizes that ultimate health and wellness is gained through a balance between the mind, body and spirt.
And one way to maintain balance is by understanding your unique digestive type. So, let’s dive into the four types — you may even learn a little something new!
1. Irregular digestion (visham agni)
First, we have the Visham agni type. This is pretty much the unpredictable digestion type. It could go either way.
If you’re working with this type of system, you never know what will cause you irregular digestion, bloating and/or constipation. So basically everything you eat is a gamble for your gut. It could leave you bloated and constipated, or it could leave you with no issues at all. It just depends on the way the wind is blowing.
So you need to eat “warming” foods that will keep your digestive system grounded, so to speak. Think roasted root veggies and steamed leafy greens. Skip the cold stuff like salads and smoothies!
2. Sharp digestion (tikshna agni)
Next up, we have the tishna agni type. We’re sending out some special love to the people in this group. Because their stomachs are always ON FIRE!
This group suffers from heartburn, acid reflux, ulcers and has frequent diarrhea after they eat. If this is you, we feel for you! But we have something that may help….
Cool down your fiery digestive system with cooling, hydrating foods. Think of foods that lessen inflammation like mint, cilantro and water-rich vegetables like cucumbers and celery.
3. Slow digestion (manda agni)
If you’re the manda agni, you deal with slow digestion. We’re talking super slow — like slow as a snail.
So whenever you eat, even if just a little, you feel stuffed to the brim. And it feels like the food is just sitting there in your stomach, weighing you down and making you sluggish.
The person with a manda agni system really needs a nap after they eat, because eating leaves them exhausted. To improve digestion, the manda agni type should eat non-starchy, light foods that don’t weigh them down. Like leafy green veggies! And avoid dairy, sugar and excess protein.
4. Balanced digestion (sama agni)
This is where you want to be — a person with a balanced digestive tract. You have regular and healthy bowel movements, don’t have any real issues, and are the picture of perfect digestive health. With clear skin and radiant shiny eyes. Can’t beat that!
If you’re not hovering around the sama agni category of digestion, you may need a complete gut reset.
So, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen! Knowing your digestion type can help you make informed decisions about your diet and nutrition. And, of course, Inno Supps is here to support you on your health and wellness journey.
